We have a Michelin 3.5 ton floor jack that is about 5 years old. It is one of those speed jacks that will go all the way up in like two pumps of the handle if there is no weight on it. For the last couple years, it won't lift anything. It will go up to the object and sit there and do nothing. It's like a valve isn't opening or something. If you put your foot on it so it goes up slow and then put it under what you want to lift it will lift it.

Is it just low on oil? I have no book so no idea what it should have in it.

Thanks if you know anything.

Try this link. Google will find you more info on various hydraulic jacks. http://hyjacks.com/H7.HTM

I have always wondered how something a simple as a hydraulic jack could be such a PITA, especially when you really need a jack.

A seal could be bad in it or the oil is low is like you said. I know one thing in this cold weather makes it tough on jacks. I dont have a heated shop so have to keep the jacks inside or heat them up with a space heater before they work. If you carry a hydraulic jack in your pickup make sure its in the cab where its warm because if you have a flat it wont work an you will have to use the mechanical one. Tell us what you find out on your jack. Good Luck wishbone7803

I have the same issue with my jack. I have checked fluid and messed with it to no avail. It will lift if you start the lift way low. Am at a standstill now. Paid about 70.00 for jack at sams club and figure it my be a write off. SDFarmboy

I bought a Michelin floor jack also at Sams club, I think, from day 1 the thing settles out. Haven't been able to get that fixed.

So much for the quality Michelin name on this stuff.

I wouldn't own another floor jack that has the two speeds. We haven't had one that would last. Galaxie64

Had same jack and the same thing happened, has to be seals. Bit the bullet and dropped a couple hundred on a Napa jack, so far so good. dmh

I had one, same problem. Disassembled complety, cleaned out all dirty oil from barrel and all small galleys. There is a breather on top of cylinder which lets dirt in. Put back together with new oil and it works like new for over two years now. IHplowjockey
